McDonalds Fry Box World Cup 2014 Brasil Edition

For the first time ever, McDonald’s is changing the design of its iconic fry box globally to celebrate the spirit of the FIFA World Cup BrazilTM with customers around the world. This program brings the Tournament to life visually through unique packaging that features artwork by 12 artists from around the world, and a new high- tech McDonald’s GOL! mobile application that uses cutting-edge technology to allow fans across the globe to engage with one another via an Augmented Reality (AR) game.

McDonald’s reviewed artwork from over 500 artists from around the world in order to commission 24 artists to use our world famous fry box as a canvas to express their passion for football. Submissions were reviewed by an internal panel that narrowed the choices down to 12 different pieces of artwork from 12 different artists from 12 countries.

Artists were selected from a broad cross-section of the art world: commercial to fine arts; traditional to contemporary; and professionally well-known to newly discovered. Each piece of artwork was judged against established criteria to select the final pieces.

The 12 football-themed fry boxes will appear on Medium and Large fry boxes in the majority of corporate- owned and franchised restaurants around the world throughout FIFA World Cup BrazilTM while supplies last.
