Calling all photographers, camera enthusiasts, and snap-shooters as the widely-acclaimed Canon PhotoMarathon is back for its ninth edition! Taking place at Quill City Mall in the heart of KL on 17th October 2015, the Canon PhotoMarathon Malaysia 2015 will see photography enthusiasts flaunt their talents in hopes of seizing the coveted grand prize of an all-expense paid photo clinic to Japan.
“The Canon PhotoMarathon is the region’s largest photography competition, and as proud organisers of this annual exhilarating event; we are once again thrilled to provide a platform to unearth undiscovered talents and to cultivate the love of photography amongst the people. Photography is a powerful medium of expression and communication, and it offers an infinite variety of perception and interpretation. We are confident that each participant would relish every single moment of this one-of-a-kind event,” said Donny Ling, Director of the Imaging Communication Products Division of Canon Marketing (Malaysia).
The Canon PhotoMarathon Malaysia 2015 promises to be another adrenaline-charged affair as contestants will need to pit against each other and race against the clock to create photographic masterpieces in line with the assigned themes. Contestants can select between two categories – the Open Category (19 years and above) and the Junior Category (18 years and below).
On the event day, participants are required to capture the best photos of three (3) different themes announced by Canon at 9am, 12pm and 3pm respectively, using a camera. Keeping to the strict deadline, participants subsequently need to upload their photos into the designated stations before 8.59am (for first theme), 11.59am (for second theme) and 2.59pm (for third theme). Failing to submit before specific time for each theme will render the submission invalid.
Returning judge, publisher and editor of Digital Camera Magazine Malaysia Arthur Chen, photojournalist veteran CH Loh, and professional sports photographer Kamarul Akhir sits on the panel of judges for this year’s PhotoMarathon. The esteemed judges will single out the winning photographs based on the participants’ creativity, originality and relevance to the assigned themes.
Participants will need to put their game face and creative hats on if they want to be in the running to win the Grand Prize of an all-expense paid trip to Japan and a chance to be part of an unforgettable eight-day photo clinic hosted by Canon and assisted by Japan Endless Discovery (JNTO). The champion of the Canon PhotoMarathon Malaysia 2015 will also walk away with the EOS 5D Mark III, SanDisk Extreme 500 Portable Solid State Drive 120GB, SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB SDXC card U3 SpeedClass, Tamrac 5549G Adventure Back Pack 9, Sprint Pro II Kit GM, 1-year Digital Camera Magazine Subscription and One-Year Creative Cloud for Individual Complete membership.
Open to all amateurs and professionals photographers as well as the occasional hobbyist, online registrations for the Canon PhotoMarathon Malaysia 2015 closes on 10 October 2015 so hurry and log on to http://www.canon-asia.com/photomarathon/my/register.jsp to register now. Walk-in registrations will also be accepted on the event day, however all participants are encouraged to register online for a reduced participation fee and to eliminate the long queues at the registration counters.
